When you make the trip up I-35 to Austin from San Antonio, you must prepare mentally. Prepare for guaranteed traffic congestion that creates claustrophobia, an accident (or two), construction delays, and the feeling that you are in a race (against whom or what, I do not know - it’s a palatable feeling). But if you can muster the courage, watching Baseball games at St. Edwards University is worth the trip.

I was lucky to catch St. Marys Baseball on the road last week vs. UT-Tyler at Irwin Field in Tyler, Texas. Texas is so damn big. It is so big that a national forest exists on the edge of Tyler in East Texas, only a five-hour drive up the road from San Antonio.

Roam: Take the Road Less Traveled A few years ago, we got stuck in a traffic stoppage on IH-10 right out of Flatonia, heading East to Houston on our way to Lake Charles, Louisiana, for, well, you guessed it, Baseball. All eastbound traffic was diverted to Highway 90-East on the outskirts of Flatonia, Texas. EVERYONE had to use the two-lane highway to continue East. It was backed up for miles and miles. It took us three hours to get through Flatonia to an entry point back on IH-10, which was backed up for miles and miles.
