It's always been the Archers

Torpedo Bats
Torpedomania! If you've been paying attention, all anyone can talk about regarding MLB is the Torpedo Bat (thanks, Yankees). Even though it's been around for a while and originated back in 1936 with the Bowling Pin bat, Torpedo bats are keeping the MLB top of mind until the data starts rolling in and we find out it's not the arrows after all; it's the archers. It's always been the Archers. Elly De La Cruz is an excellent Archer. The Athletic went deep into the subject if you want to know more. Feels like a T-Shirt? But to me, everything feels like a T-shirt.
I Love Parks

I enjoyed going to St. Michaels to watch a doubleheader last week. It is a lovely campus in the exclusive Barton Springs neighborhood, just a few fairways from the resort. It's a thing in Austin to have these cool facilities with limestone bleachers carved into the environment. It's a nice touch. Lake Travis has a cool park like St. Michaels and even St. Edwards has something similar. It's nice when the concession stand splits the stands right in the middle. You can stand in line and watch the game and mingle. Another reason Baseball is so cool is that the Parks they play the game in are a joy in and of themselves.
Glory Days

Joe DePugh passed away on Wednesday, April 2. Did you know that DePugh was the antagonist in Bruce Springsteen's song, "Glory Days"? There was a great read about him and the encounter that led to the song in The Athletic. I'm not a huge Boss fan, but this music video takes me back and coupled with what I know about DePugh after reading the article, it really hits now.
"I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside, sat down, had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about was Glory days
Well, they'll pass you by, glory days
In the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days"
Rest in peace, Joe.
Val Kilmer

I hated to hear about Val Kilmer's passing. If you don't say Tombstone is your favorite Val Kilmer movie, we'll have to discuss it over a few beers. This custom Huckleberry type has always been one of my favorite graphics. I had it all wrong about what a "Huckleberry" means. RIP Val Kilmer.
30th Anniversary
Luckily, it's not all doom and gloom this week because we have an excuse to watch, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" again, which just turned 30 on Thursday, April 3.
"Well, she turned me into a Newt... it got better."

Keep getting better! Cheers!
