The Importance of Rituals

The Importance of Rituals

The Importance of Rituals

A thing happens before Baseball games in the Lone Star Conference. I noticed it a few years ago but didn't know it was a "thing." A competition is going on during the National Anthem before the game starts. Each home team does its damndest to outclass the visitors with alignment, formation, and attention. The visitors, for their part, try their damnedest to outdo the home team. It's another lovely ritual in a game filled with them. Just look at that beautiful alignment in the photo above. Speaking of rituals.

Spring has Sprung

The game was in full swing, with the wind blowing at 35 miles an hour and gusts that seemed tornadic. As the game entered the fourth inning, a parent casually remarked, "This game is going quick. We'll be back in San Antonio early." As soon as she said it, I knew the Baseball Gods would intervene.

And intervene they did. As the game entered the ninth inning, and the sun was a distant memory, the wind didn't make it feel like Spring. I thought shivering in the stands was over. Silly me.

It's worth the trip to Eagle Pass, Texas, to see a competitive game like the one I saw last night, but returning at midnight on a Wednesday was not on the agenda. Luckily, I woke up today to the official start of Spring. Spring has sprung, indeed.

I dusted off some old t-shirt designs and marked them down. If you need a gift for a friend or want something original and unique, check out the on-sale collection.

Cheers!
