"My 'check engine' light came on while driving to work this morning. I looked and the engine is still there."

Over the past week, the check engine light came on almost simultaneously in all three of the cars in my care. In the pantheon of vague warning lights, the 'check engine' light has to be at the top of the list. It feels ominious, but at the same time if it was serious, wouldn't the car just not work? I mean, it is the engine after all.

Maybe if it was serious it would be a, "stop driving you idiot and take this car in for service" light. Or, just pop up a bunch of dollar signs on the console with a cash register sound. But the light that haunts my daily driving experience did provide me with some inspiration. So I created some more Tshirts that the world will never need!

Perhaps it was a sign from the universe, but I decided to check my own engine. In fact, I used this friendly reminder from my car to take a look at the health of my day-to-day activities. I'm happy to report that my engine is working just fine. I may have to get a four wheel drive to navigate my new path, but my engine is good to go.

We all need to take a moment and check our engines from time to time. You know what they say, if you don't check yourself, you just might wreck yourself.
