The Anvil Always Breaks the Hammer

The Anvil Always Breaks the Hammer

Posted on June 28, 2023

“At the end of the day, you can't control the results; you can only control your effort level and your focus.” – Ben Zobrist

Doing nothing, is something. Sometimes it’s just better to sit and think rather than jump into action. The ancient Taoist philosophy of Wu Wei, literally translated as “non-action” is about not forcing things. It’s about:

“…avoiding the paralyzing effects of overanalyzing, stressing out, and all of the things that come with a general need to control events and people. Quite simply, Wu Wei is an approach to existence that advocates an acceptance of the myriad things that are out of our control, a willingness to go along for the ride, and a readiness to act in the few instances where action will truly add value.” – Mark Sturm

The Anvil Always Breaks the Hammer. I came across this George Orwell quote after going down an internet wormhole about the concept of Wu Wei. It’s fascinating on many levels and visually appealing. This T-Shirt features script lettering on the front and a distressed type collage on the back.
