Be Prepared. Get Lucky.

Be Prepared. Get Lucky.

Posted on August 3, 2022

"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity."

Seneca

_______

In 1950, at the age of 23, Vin Scully was prepared. He caught the ear of legendary Brooklyn Dodgers broadcaster Red Barber and they begin calling Dodger games together. They called games together for three years until Scully got lucky when Barber decided he wanted more money, and left to broadcast for the Yankees. Scully never looked back.

I’ve been working on this idea of “luck” off and on for awhile now, and when I woke up this morning to the news of Vin Scully’s passing, I knew it was time to stop tinkering with it and push out to the world.

When you are prepared, it’s amazing how lucky you get. This series is my homage to the legend that will live on forever, Vin Scully. An improbable story of a kid from the Bronx who left an impossible legacy to repeat. We’re all much better off for hearing his voice. Rest in peace Vin Scully.

If you have the time, do yourself a favor and rewatch this epic moment in baseball history (I swear I watch it at least once every year – still gives me goosebumps). Vin’s call is perfection.

Finish your week strong. Here's to us getting lucky with some rain this weekend. Cheers!
